Ask what they think is supplying the moisture

A quotation should make clear whether the proposed cause is ground moisture, rain penetration, condensation, plumbing, a bridged DPC or something else. If the answer is simply “the meter is high”, ask what other evidence supports it.

Compare the scope, not just the total

One contractor may quote for injection only while another includes plaster removal, skirting, external work and reinstatement. Write down what is excluded before comparing prices.

Photographs can help before a visit

Useful images include the whole affected wall, a closer view of the damage and the outside of the same part of the building. A photo of a meter display without context is much less informative.
