The usual clearance has a purpose

A visible gap between the damp-proof course and outside ground helps keep rain splash and standing moisture away from the wall above the barrier. Where that gap has disappeared, the wall can remain persistently wet.

Lowering ground can be more logical than injecting

If an intact DPC is simply buried, creating another DPC higher up leaves the underlying external defect in place. Restoring suitable ground clearance may be the more direct repair.

Watch door thresholds and sloping paths

Levels cannot always be reduced uniformly because entrances and adjoining properties constrain the work. Drainage channels or local detailing may be needed where a path must remain high.
